Tulsidas, Goswami
The great poet Tulsidas was born in 1610 AD to a brahmin Atmaram Dubey and his wife Hulsi in village Rajapur, Banda distt. near Prayag, Uttar Pradesh. It was the 7th day of Shukla paksha of Shrawan month (about July to Aug) and Abhutta Mool Nakshatra when after a gestation period of 12 months Gosami Tulsidas was born..
Strange:
When he was born, he didn't cry and "Ram" was the fisrt word he uttered from his mouth.. He had all the 32 teeth and a bodily stature of a 5 year old boy.
Anticipating something bad, his father got afraid due to which his mother sent him with their maid to live separately. Hulsi died the next day but the maid, called Chuniyan started to look-after Tulsidas. After about 5and a half year she also passed away leaving the boy an orphan. It has been said that Goddess Parvati herself used to come in the form of a brahmin lady to feed Tulsidas.
Then a disciple, Sri Nar-Hari-Anand, of Sri Anant-Anand (who belonged to a place called Raam-Shail)
found Tulsidas due to an inspiration from Lord Shiva himself. He renamed Tulsidas to Raambola and brought him to Ayodhya. Raambola went through brahmin rituals wherein he spoke the Gayatri Mantra by himself, on this all the others were astonished. He started his study in Ayodhya itself and he proved to be a sharp brain, remembering everything heard just once from his guru. Nar-Hari ji recited RaamCharit to Tulsidas after moving to Kaashi (Vaaranasi).
PS: The following information on Goswami Tulsidas is an approximate translation from SriRamCharitManas itself.
